Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. is an American medical drama created by Kourtney Kang for Disney+. The series is a reboot of the popular ABC drama, Doogie Howser, M.D.. The first season debuted on Disney's subscription service, Disney+ on September 8, 2021.

On February 3, 2022 Disney+ announced that the series is renewed for a second season. It was confirmed on the streaming service’s Twitter. The second season debuted on Disney's subscription service, Disney+ on March 31, 2023.

Premise[]

Set in modern-day Hawai‘i, "Doogie Kamealoha, M.D." – a coming-of-age dramedy inspired by the hit medical series “Doogie Howser, M.D.” – follows Lahela “Doogie” Kamealoha, a 16-year-old prodigy juggling a budding medical career and life as a teenager. With the support of her caring and comical 'ohana (family) and friends, Lahela is determined to make the most of her teenage years and forge her own path. Guiding Lahela (and also complicating things) is her career-driven mother Dr. Clara Hannon who’s also her supervisor at the hospital, her doting father Benny who helps keep her connected to what matters most, her free-spirited older brother Kai, her gregarious younger brother Brian Patrick, her best friend Steph, her surfer crush Walter and her fellow hospital colleagues, Dr. Lee, Charles and Noelani.[1]

She takes the family car without permission.

Both Lahela and her mom confront the challenges of being strong, smart women in today’s world.

He jumps at the chance to enjoy quality time with his daughter and impart wisdom from his stock-trading days. When Lahela takes it too far, Benny shares a lesson about balance and what’s most important in life.

Lahela struggles to figure out where she fits in; she’s not a normal doctor or a typical teen. She’s too young to attend Dr. Lee’s party with her medical colleagues, yet she’s hosting an alumni booth for career day at her former high school. When Lahela decides to join the popular dance team at the high school, tension builds with Steph. At the hospital, Lahela tries to reconnect two estranged sisters for a kidney transplant, and finally realizes where she’s fit in all along.
